The wines of the Loir Valley

From Vendôme to Château-du-Loir, the south-facing vineyards give the best of their grape varieties, including the iconic Pineau d’Aunis. Coteaux du Vendômois, Coteaux du Loir, and Jasnières offer remarkable talents ranging from white to red, through “gris” (as it is called here) and rosé.

The vineyard is located on the limestone hillsides overlooking the corridor. The flint soil and the low rainfall give the wines a remarkable typicity.

The vineyard is doing wonderfully well. The cellars with their almost constant temperature, their permanent humidity, are perfec for the maturation of the wines. It is in the dark and absolute rest that the good bottles ripen in an incomparable way.

Coteaux du Vendômois wines

Since the early Middle Ages, the vineyard has occupied a prominent place in the Loir Valley, whose wines Rabelais and Ronsard celebrated. Henri IV straddling between La Flèche and Vendôme enjoyed the Jasnières until it was served at the Château royal de Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

Under Louis XIV, detailed maps of the region showed a well-established vineyard on hillsides that were still perpetuating this wine-growing tradition in the 20th century.

Today, these vineyards are enjoying an exceptional renaissance. Since the 1970s, the quest for authenticity and excellence has breathed new life into the region, attracting enlightened wine lovers and the curious in search of wines with character.
