The Arville Commandery

Founded in the 12th century by the Order of the Temple, the Arville commandery remains one of the best-preserved commanderies in France, thanks to the scale of its buildings.

What can you see?
During the Christmas vacations, the Commanderie d’Arville team invites you to discover the site in an original way with: the gourmet game “Léandre, le Maître Pâtissier”, family workshops, torchlight tours and the investigation game “Le secret de la Commanderie”.
In this festive season, you’ll be able to rediscover your childlike spirit as you discover the Christmas decorations, and have stars in your eyes!

The animations

✓ “Léandre, le maître pâtissier” gourmet game: Léandre, the Master Pastry Chef, is about to create a delicious cake for Christmas. Consulting the Grand Livre des Desserts, he discovers that the recipe is protected by a magic formula! Do everything you can to help the pastry chef find the formula…

✓torchlight tours on December 27, 28 and 30: equipped with torches, visitors are plunged into a strange atmosphere, as shadows lengthen by torchlight and night envelops the site.

✓ family workshops on Mondays: designed around the pleasure of discovery (exploring history, a skill, etc.), these activities can be done as a family or independently, and are accompanied by a professional speaker.

✓ “The Secret of the Commandery” investigative game: Guillermus d’Aridavilla has left you an enigmatic parchment full of riddles to decipher… It’s up to you! Solve the various tests, explore the historic site and unveil the secret left by the Templars. Will you be able to reach the end of your quest? Play throughout the vacation season.

Events are limited in number, and online booking is recommended.

The boutique is also open, offering visitors a selection of original and varied products: gourmet items (jams, artisanal beer, honey, hypocras, etc.), leatherwork, natural soaps, medieval games… Enough to find original and perfect ideas for Christmas!
